First & Second Grade
Mrs. Karen Broadhurst serves as our first
and second grade teacher. She graduated from Kutztown University with a
B.S. in Elementary Education, a B.S. in Special Education, and a Minor in
Mental and Physical Handicap Education. Mrs. Broadhurst fulfilled her
student teaching requirements at St. Clair Elementary School, Schuylkill
Valley High School, and Longswamp Elementary School. She began her
teaching career with us as the first grade teacher for the 2004-2005
school year. Mrs. Broadhurst attends Faith Worship Center in Orwigsburg.
First and second grade
utilize Abeka curriculum for Phonics, Language, Reading, Math, Spelling,
Handwriting, Science and Health. ACSI curriculum is used for Bible, and
Social Studies is taught from the Heritage Studies curriculum by Bob Jones
Press. Students also receive instruction in Computer Technology (in our
new state of the art computer lab), Music, Art and Physical Education
from additional NLCA teachers who teach only these special subjects.
Third & Fourth Grade
Third and fourth grade utilize Abeka
Curriculum for Math, Language, Science and Health. ACSI curriculum is used
for Bible and Spelling. “Once Upon an Open Book” and “I Met You in a
Story”, by Bob Jones Press, are used for Reading. Social Studies is taught
using the Heritage Studies curriculum, also produced by Bob Jones press.
Handwriting enhancement skills are taught with material by Zaner-Bloser
Inc. Students also
receive instruction in Computer Technology (in our new state of the art
computer lab), Music, Art and Physical Education from additional NLCA
teachers who teach only these special subjects.

Seventh &
Eighth Grade
Mrs.
Claraann Schultz teaches fifth through eighth grade Bible, Math, Social
Studies, and Music. She also serves as principal. Mrs. Schultz
graduated in 1988 from Bloomsburg University with a B.S. in Elementary
Education and a concentration in Music. That year, she began her
teaching career at St. Nicholas School in Minersville, PA. During
those years, Mrs. Schultz took some time to start a family of her own.
In 1998, she returned to St. Nicholas School and served in a self-contained
classroom, but her last six years
there she focused on teaching Math, Social Studies and Reading. Beginning in 2007,
Mrs. Schultz joined the New Life Christian Academy's faculty. Through the winter months,
Mrs. Schultz and her family worships at First United
Methodist in Schuylkill Haven, PA. From approximately April through
October, the Schultz family provides a praise and worship service at Christmas Pines
Campground in Auburn, PA.
Seventh and eighth grade utilize
Abeka Curriculum for Language, Science, Health and Seventh Grade Math.
In Algebra, we utilize the Glencoe/Macmillan curriculum. Bible,
Literature, and Social Studies are all from Bob Jones Press. "Daring Deliverers"
is the Bible course we are utilizing to strengthen our children in leadership
skills. Students
also receive instruction in Music, Art, Physical Education, and Computer
Technology.
